Oh! Cindy-Aennnnn
Yeah. I guess.
Helloooo, this is Cindy-Aennnn and I am going on Tour. YESSSS! The Red Woman Tour is TOURING and coming to a city near you.
When I started doing comedy just over ten years ago I couldn't find one native Trinbagonian doing comedy in the United States. Not one! As time rolled on I was introduced to Jean Paul and Marc Trinidad in Canada but still no women. The truth is I was searching for someone to guide me. Someone to show me the way. You know, someone who did it and was willing to share the formula for success in this male dominated industry.
Nada. No one.
I've since met Ayanna, a comic whose parents are Trinis and have learned of a couple other women who are tied to Trinidad and Tobago (not sure of their status). More importantly, I've learned that there is no one 'formula for success' and we all view success very differently.
Gosh, it took way too long for me to define myself as successful. Like, waaaaay too long! I didn't want to seem arrogant yuh know? Tryna be modest but, I've learned that sometimes downplaying your accomplishments can be seen as manipulative and self-centered. That revelation blew my mind. Soooo here we go.
I AM successful! I am doing what I love and have earned the love, respect and support of people both within and outside of my community. That's success.
I've produced and sold out over ten shows! I have won best actress for a short film I co-directed and produced. I have made thousands of people laugh and cry and cuss and think and dream. That's success.
Do I wish to be more successful? Absolutely! Let's start with more monaaaaaay baby 😉
Look, I am still figuring out the formula. Trying to find an agent or manager that gets me. One willing to work with the I (ah hear I am 'anal' and type AAA personality). I don't know what to define myself as but I will say I know what I want and have allowed myself to 'go with the flow' to my detriment. Ahmmmm...no thank you.
Now it's time to get jiggy with it. To carry on. To pardaaaay. To represent. To live my life like it's golden
The Red Woman Tour is a bold journey of self actualization. It's celebrates my Caribbean Identity, Real Talk and Red Woman Sass.
We've confirmed two cities and are working on confirming more.
We would love your help in getting the word out! Tell your friends, yuh foes, dem hoes and the bros. Tell your enemies too.....let them see how good we living.
Share the flyers. Forward the blog. Follow me on the socials. Let's keep this party pumping.
Thank you always and much love and laughter.
